Meridian Manufacturing runs several production lines producing precision components for the automotive industry. Quality control was handled almost entirely by manual visual inspection, which was slow and inconsistent across shifts. As production volume increased, defects were slipping through more often, leading to costly returns.

We built a computer vision system that inspects components in real time as they move along the production line, flagging defects the moment they occur. The system was trained on thousands of labeled images covering common product defects and quality issues.
Manual inspection couldn't keep pace with Meridian's production speed, and inconsistent judgment between shifts meant defect rates varied depending on who was on the line. Increasing headcount wasn't a scalable answer.
“The smart vision system catches defects our inspectors used to miss, and it does it without slowing down the line. Our return rate has dropped significantly since deployment.”
